Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We’re looking for a talented communications professional to work on client-based infrastructure projects located in San Francisco. Candidates should be detail-oriented, energetic, committed, able to navigate complex issues and challenges, and capable of leading project teams to success. We need someone who can quickly become familiar with a range of project issues, to be able to address challenges with professionalism, and direct and teach support staff appropriately. Candidates should have experience managing projects as well. We are seeking individuals who can manage clients, projects, and tasks at one time; produce high-quality client deliverables (mostly writing assignments); display strong time management skills in order to effectively prioritize and delegate tasks; remain flexible when projects and priorities change, potentially supervise individuals and teams; and, display strong meeting management and presentation skills.
This position will support the development and implementation of communication and stakeholder outreach programs for local utilities in San Francisco. Primary responsibilities for the position include communication and public involvement strategy formulation; written and informational materials development; online outreach and social media; event planning; client meeting coordination and facilitation; development and oversight of project budgets; and business development.
We are looking for candidates who display great attention to detail in all aspects of their work with an emphasis on strong writing and editing skills and a command of AP style and English grammar. Experience working with media and planning media and public events highly encouraged. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) is a must. Preference for experience working with InDesign and other design programs. Knowledge of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area is important.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science or related area required
- Minimum of five years relevant work experience, including project management
- A strong interest in public processes, large-scale infrastructure, urban planning, and local government
Not required but preferred:
- Previous experience at a consulting firm
- Experience working on projects with government or utility clients (could be in-house or as a consultant)
- Supervisory experience
